George Henry Cooper (12/7/1935 – 10/20/2020)

It is with sadness for his loss, but profound gratitude for the life he lived, that Cindy shares the passing of her father, George Henry Cooper, on October 20, 2020.

George was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on December 7, 1935. He was the son of the late George Henry Cooper and Lorraine Jankowski Cooper. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his twin brother Ronald Bryce Cooper and half sister Ethel C. “Tish” Bassett.

George is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruth Green Cooper of Acworth, Georgia; son Jeff (Yvonne) Cooper of Acworth, Georgia; daughter Cindy Cooper McBrayer (Ronnie) of Freeport, Florida; daughter Amy Cooper Pawlowski (Doug) of Kennesaw, Georgia; and son Greg Cooper of High Bridge, New Jersey. He will be missed by his grandchildren: Emilee Cooper, Hannah Cooper, Blayze McBrayer, Bryce McBrayer, Braden McBrayer, Avery Reece, Haley Reece, and Olivia Reece.

After serving in the United States Air National Guard, George worked at and retired from The Sonoco Products Company. He was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather. George will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and how he loved to make others laugh, as he felt that laughter was indeed the best medicine. To know him, was to love him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor George’s memory by making a donation in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
