When Ronnie isn’t speaking, writing, or podcasting, he’s probably singing as the frontman for “The Backsliders.” Playing a free-wheeling and eclectic mix of folk, roots, blues, gospel, and 60s-70s rock, “The Backsliders” are as comfortable on a Saturday night stage as they are in a Sunday morning church service. In 2019, “The Backsliders” strengthened their unique musical voice, performing as an authentic tribute band to Bob Dylan and his enduring musical influence.
Members of the band have shared the stage with such diverse artists as Roseanne Cash, Mylon LeFevre, Farewell Angelina, Ricky Skaggs, Eric Lindell, and The Eagles. They have appeared in venues as varied as the Suwannee Roots Revival, Gip’s Blues Club and Juke Joint, the Mattie Kelly Arts Center, and the Emerald Coast’s SandJam Fest.
